PIANO C RED

Piano C RedPiano C Red was born in the South in 1933, and had been playing piano in Atlanta bars for ten years when he moved to Chicago in the mid-50s. He recorded briefly for Chess records in 1963, but his main work came as a backing musician for the big names of the day, working with Muddy Waters, BB King and Buddy Guy. Like most musicians, he worked another job when times were slow, and Red earned his living as a cab driver. His debut album in 1992 for the New Rose label was titled ‘Cab Drivin’ Man’, and included his song ‘Flat Foot Boogie’. Red led his Flat Foot Boogie band around the Chicago scene until he was shot in a robbery in 2006. His health never recovered, and his death at the age of 79 was announced on June 4th 2013.
