Ian Parker has been at the top of his game since signing to Ruf Records back in 2003 – always moving, finding new ways to express himself and never falling back on the tired old clichés so worn out by so many of the 12 bar bores. His integrity, sticking to his principles of going where his art takes him, uncompromisingly honest and committed to expressing his soul in his music defines him. But, just as he goes forward, he also takes his time to look back and his latest album – Spoonful of Gold – Blues for Willie celebrates the music of Willie Dixon – one of the all time blues greats. Strat in hand, Ian pays homage to a legend – the only way he can – with searing blues intensity.
He’s not the new kid on the block now. He’s the real deal. Great songs, great voice, great guitar playing – the full package – not to be missed – this is a rare treat in such an intimate venue.
Felix Rabin set the 100 Club on fire earlier this year with his incredible band – belting out classic blues vibes played with a youthful energy, fun, passion and electric tension.
